Location: Brewster
Distance: 1 mile
Skill Level: easy
Elevation Gain: minimal
Type of Hike: loop
Trail Condition: dirt
Wow Factor: If you have little ones that love big trucks, you pass by some industrial parking lots with them
Note: The yellow trail has been extended to loop and reconnect with the main trail and the north side has be moved to fit in the boundaries of the park
How to get there: From 684, take Exit 8, Hardscrabble Road East. Turn left on Fields Road. Go about 2 miles and turn left onto Arbon Lane. You’ll see signs for the Brewster Ice Rink on one side and a preserve sign on the other. There will be two or three spots on the left before you get to the rink.
63 Fields Lane, Brewster, NY 10509
Summary: This trail is really well maintained (gets a little rougher on the relocated north side but not bad). Start down the hill. You’ll follow some industrial lots. My little guys loved the big trucks and machinery. There is also a lot of noise from 684 on the south side.
Go straight past the intersection and take the yellow trail. This will lead you to the “viewpoint.” Putnam County Land Trust has turned this from an out and back to a loop to connect with the main trail. There is no new map but it is very well blazed and takes you downhill to the orange trail. Follow it left.
This trail has been moved and while it is well blazed, it is a little less maintained. It takes you through the forest back to the intersection. Turn left and head back up to the parking spot.
Facilities: none (not sure if the Ice Rink will let you use theirs or not)
