To the Look Out Point
Location: South Salem
Distance: 1 mile
Skill Level: easy, good for little walkers
Elevation Gain: 200′
Type of Hike: out-and-back
Trail Condition: gravel road
Wow Factor: view point
How to get there: from I684, take the Hardscrabble Rd exit east. At the T-intersection, make a right on June Rd > Hawley Rd. Make a left into the park on Mountain Lakes Rd. Follow the road past the office. There is a gravel lot on the right that will fit 6 or so cars unless people park parallel with the road like a parking lot. Don’t block the barrier for the road going uphill at the back.
Summary: From the parking area, head up the gravel road, past the barrier. If you’re bringing a stroller, you may want to set it up on the other side to begin with.
Then it’s a straight shot up white the gradual hill for about half a mile. The road ends at the lookout point and the views are excellent.
There is a flat area, perfect for picnicking, a large, standing binocular, and a bench under a tree with some shade.
When you’ve had your fill, head back down to the car.
Facilities: portapotty

Dogs: on leash
Stroller Doable: yes, gravel road
