Location: Yorktown
Distance: 1.5 miles
Skill Level: easy
Elevation Gain: 100′
Type of Hike: loop
Trail Condition: grass, trail
Wow Factor: pedestrian bridge over the Taconic
How to get there: From the Taconic, take the exit for 202/35. Head east on 202/35 and pass FDR park. Make a left onto 132. Follow Old Yorktown Rd for almost 1.5 miles. Make a left on Strang Blvd and follow it into the park to the large lot.
Summary:
From the parking lot, head toward the road you came in on. The start of the white trail isn’t well-marked from the road but you’ll follow the edge of the trees and the pipeline (don’t walk down the road very far, its right at the entrance of the parking area).
Follow the treeline about 30 feet and the white trail heads right down the hill. Keep going about half a mile, past the red and green trails.
When you come to the intersection of white/yellow and yellow, hang a right on yellow.
Yellow will head down and back up and dead-end with blue.
Make a right on blue and follow it up and across the pipeline. You’ll see and hear the Taconic State Parkway.
At the pink trail, go left to check out the pedestrian bridge that crosses the TSP.
When you’re done, turn around and head back to the same side of the bridge you started from and continue on the pink trail all the way to the parking lot. Be sure to check out the fields before you head home.
