Also known as Merrit Park or Haviland Hollow
Location: Patterson
Distance: 1.5 miles

Type of Hike: out-and-back
Trail Condition: road, trail, rocky
Wow Factor: 30′ waterfall
How to get there: From Route 22, turn east on Haviland Hollow Road. Take it almost to CT. The parking lot is on the left just before the little bridge overpass.
Address to get you close: 492 Haviland Hollow Rd, Patterson, NY
Summary: From the parking lot, you’ll head up toward the kiosk. Take the red trail north. You can pick if you want to do red or red/white for a little piece. I did red/white because it looked easier–it meets back with red. The trail turns into a woods road
Continue for about a mile from the start until the trail passes a little lean-to. Head straight, following the sound of rushing water to the gorge. There are a few different cascades and you can follow the water down as far as you’re comfortable. Be careful with your little ones because some drops are very steep.
Once you’re done exploring, head back down on the red trail. I do not suggest making it a 2 mile loop by coming back on the blue trail unless you want to make an easy hike difficult. It adds another 400′ in elevation and is very steep on the way down to the parking lot. If you want the adventure, use hiking poles!
