How to get there: From 22 near the Bedford triangle, turn east on 172. Turn right on Long Ridge/Stamford Rd. You’ll see a don’t enter sign, then turn right on Millers Mill Rd. Go over the little bridge, then left on Mianus River Rd. Parking area on left.
Address: 167 Mianus River Road, Bedford, NY 10506
Summary: Head toward the large kiosk. They usually have maps (its nice to put them back when you’re done). Head left on the red trail for a pretty walk along the stream. The ferns and moss grow abundantly. Keep following red away from the stream and up hill.
At just about 1 mile, you will see the Holly Hill Quarry trail on the left. It’s a short walk downhill to a really sparkly quarry. There is a downed tree where people have put the prettiest rocks for display. Word of warning…the mica is very thin and very sharp. This is not a great place to let your little ones play as they will get paper cut like boo-boos…
Head back up the hill and turn left on red. Head downhill. In another half mile, you’ll see a small sign for the overlook. It’s a short walk with a small view but a nice place to take a break and have a snack.
Keep going left on red until you see the sign for the waterfall. It is a steep descent and there isn’t a great area to let babies down. Climb back up to the main trail.
If you go left, you’ll come to the end of the trail and the reservoir itself.
I like to take (red to) blue back to the parking area as it cuts off the first 1/4 mile and gives you a little different views.
